nTop Live: Design Patient-Specific Ankle-Foot Orthoses

screenshot from video

Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFOs) are orthopedic devices that keep foot joints in proper alignment,  help patients stabilize their gait and compensate for muscle weakness. Typically, it takes 5-7 hours to create these designs from a patient scan. Yet, with nTopology it is possible to automate the process.

In this nTop Live, Alejandro Lopez, Senior Application Engineer at nTopology, shows you how to create a design workflow to get the job done in about 10 minutes. He also shares tips on how to control the final geometry, apply perforation patterns to the AFO and vary its thickness as needed.

Watch and learn how to:

  • Automate the design of custom orthopedic devices
  • Create patient-specific devices 3D scan data
  • Control the stiffness using perforation patterns & variable thickness
