While engineering under-the-hood components or other parts that operate at high temperatures, an uneven temperature distribution can cause unforeseen design issues. For example, the buildup of internal stresses or an unexpected deformation due to variable thermal expansion.

In this session, Blake Johnson, Customer Success Engineer, shows how to perform a thermoelastic analysis on an exhaust manifold in nTop, using as inputs the results of a thermal FE analysis or imported temperature fields captured experimentally.

Watch and learn how to:

  • Set up an FE mesh from an imported CAD body
  • Define thermal boundary conditions and run an FEA
  • Perform a thermal-structural analysis
