“In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.” In this webinar, we are going to compare finite element simulations using nTopology to experimentally measured mechanical failure tests. Attendees will learn how to set up a Finite Element Analysis in nTopology using real mechanical testing data, as well as how to interpret and filter the results. The first half of the webinar will be in nTopology, after which we will move into the real world to push rugged 3D-printed parts to failure. Attendees will have the opportunity to watch Raymond attempt to traverse the “valley of death” between simulation and experiment. The subject of study will be the SpaceWrench, a lightweight wrench implicitly designed for astronauts, which will soon be available to civilians.

Key Takeaways:

  • How to set up a Finite Element Analysis in nTopology
  • How to interpret the results in the context of real materials
  • How to traverse the “valley of death” between simulation and experiment
